Dave Thompson is a Senior Security Specialist with Talisman International. His career has included serving in military security, Federal nuclear security inspection, commercial nuclear security management, and as a consultant in the field of nuclear security. As a U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sergeant in security, Dave had over 20 years of experience in nuclear security and intelligence gathering duties which culminated with his assignment as the Superintendent of the Air Force Security Academy. After his retirement from the Air Force, Dave served as a senior nuclear security inspector at the NRC, specializing in security at nuclear power plants.
After his retirement from the NRC, Dave became the site security manager at Indian Point Nuclear Power Station and was responsible for a major overhaul of the twin-plant security program following the events of 9/11. He later served as the security manager for the Tennessee Valley Authority nuclear plants. Following these roles, Dave became a nuclear security consultant and has served as team leader on a number of previous projects at nuclear power facilities, including an optimization study, a plant-wide security assessment, and evaluation of response capabilities.
