


Eric Weinstein is a Senior Nuclear Safety Consultant at Talisman. Mr. Weinstein previously served at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as Scientific Secretary for the International Nuclear Safety Group (INSAG) where he assisted in writing and publishing 5 INSAG documents, the most recent of which is “Nuclear Safety Infrastructure for a National Nuclear Power Program Supported by the IAEA Fundamental Safety Principles.” He also served as Nuclear Safety representative on a number of IAEA missions to countries wishing to establish a nuclear power program for the first time. He was Deputy Mission Chief for an IAEA emergency response mission to Indonesia. Previously, Mr. Weinstein retired from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and established an Emergency Planning and Response consulting firm in 2004. Prior to his retirement, he was Team Leader of the Communications Team established by the Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response at the NRC. He led a project to conform the NRC security programs in licensee guidance, incident response and facility management to the Homeland Security Advisory System (HSAS). He is an internationally recognized expert in emergency planning and response and has authored or contributed to 22 major publications on that topic, with special emphasis on assisting State and local governments.
As State Liaison for Incident Response, he represented the NRC with States, counties, other Federal agencies and private entities at over 100 national symposia. He represented the NRC internationally in Ankara, Turkey, where he sat on the Board of the National Disaster Training Institute and in Seoul, Korea, where he represented the NRC Chairman at National Nuclear Safety Day. He also served as a Congressional Fellow in the office of U. S. Senator Patty Murray and as an Adjunct Professor of Nuclear Emergency Response at the Harvard University School of Public Health. Mr. Weinstein is a graduate of American University.
