


Rich Schaller is a Senior Operations Consultant with Talisman. His career includes 35 years of professional experience at both boiling water reactors and pressurized water reactors. He held a senior reactor operator license at a boiling water reactor, and he has expertise in plant operations, training, startup testing, engineering, licensing, project management, steam generator management and license renewal.
Following five years service as a nuclear submarine officer Mr. Schaller was on the commissioning staff of a BWR-6 boiling water reactor for ten years, and he progressed through assignments of increasing responsibility including Engineer, Technical Staff Supervisor, Training Director and Plant Operations Director. Mr. Schaller then spent twenty years in management at an operating System-80 pressurized water reactor in the roles of Assistant Plant Manager, Engineering Support Department Leader and Life Cycle Management Department Leader. While in these positions Mr. Schaller managed major efforts including the steam generator tube rupture recovery effort, replacement steam generator procurement, ultrasonic flow monitor thermal power recovery, negotiation of the outage services contract, low pressure turbine rotor replacement and preparation of a license renewal application.
Mr. Schaller holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Physics and a Masters of Science in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Illinois. He is a licensed professional engineer in the states of Illinois and Arizona.
