


Scott Newberry is a Senior Nuclear Safety Consultant to Talisman. He has over 20 years of experience managing and directing safety and regulatory programs and projects, including executive experience at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). After retiring from the NRC in 2004, he joined a private expert consulting company, Information Systems Laboratory (ISL), and provided leadership as Vice President, Deputy and Manager of ISL’s Nuclear Systems Analysis Division. As an independent consultant, he continues to support ISL and manages the NRC’s largest commercial new reactor contract which addresses all elements of new reactor safety reviews. Mr. Newberry also provides expert advice to various national and international nuclear safety organizations, including the IAEA and foreign regulatory authorities.
Mr. Newberry has 26 years of experience at the NRC. He served in the Senior Executive Service for 15 years where he was responsible for significant regulatory programs including Risk Assessment, Regulatory Improvement, Safety Analysis, License Renewal, and Instrumentation and Controls. He also has 11 years of technical safety review and project leadership experience at the NRC, including risk-informed regulation, technical specification improvement, events assessment, and systems safety analysis.
